Here we use Microsoft Office to illustrate how you license for Terminal Services.
To license Microsoft Office through Terminal Services, these licenses are required:
Windows Server 2003 (with Terminal Services activated)
Windows Server 2003 Client Access License (for each terminal accessing Office on the server)
Terminal Services Client Access License (for each terminal accessing Office on the server)
Office license (for each terminal accessing Office on the server)
Why is a Windows Server 2003 Client Access License needed to access Windows Server 2003?
A Windows Server 2003 Client Access License is required for each device (or user) that accesses the server and users the services of the server. A CAL is not required if access is unauthenticated and/or conducted through the internet.
Terminal Services allows you to run a desktop application in a networked environment.
