Original lamps These are products produced by the original manufacturer of the projector. They are made to a high standard.
Compatible lamps Also called generic lamps. These are similar to replacement inkjet cartridges for your printer or extra memory cards for your digital camera. They are not from the original manufacturer and so they don't carry the price premium. In other words they are cheaper.
However, there are some compatible lamps on the market that have not been manufactured to a high standard. They don't carry any guarantee. The ones we sell are high quality compatible products you should be able to trust to work flawlessly in your machine. They all come with the industry standard 90-day guarantee.
Bulb This is another name for a projector lamp.
Lamp This is the projector lamp without any housing around it. These are cheaper than the lamp module. However the lamp module is easier to install. This is because if you buy a lamp without the module you have to install the lamp in the module that comes with the projector and then install the lamp module in the projector.
Lamp Module This has two meanings. (1) It is the housing around the lamp. (2) It is the complete unit of the lamp and the housing around it. For the customer, modules have the advantage of making installation of the lamp easier.
For the manufacturer, the lamp module has another advantage. Although most manufacturers select their lamps from a range of twenty or so designs across the globe, they ensure that their modules are unique. So although they tend to use the same lamps as other manufacturers by having unique modules they can prevent competition and thus charge more for the complete lamp module.
Getting hold of such modules can prove difficult and expensive. However, we are are currently introducing lamp modules at reasonable prices.
Beamers Another word in Europe for projectors.
