Projector Lamp Quality
Most of the lamps we sell are the Teklamps brand. The design, materials used and technology applied to build these lamps are all first class.
Because we want you to get a good quality image from your projector, the quality of your projector lamp is important. A projector lamp is a precision component.
The reflector has to be engineered to give you an even field of light (no hotspot in the middle), the glass of the lamp as transparent as possible, and the filament as free as possible of impurities (they affect the colour temperature of the output). The colour temperature, by the way, is a measurement in degrees kelvin that indicates the hue of a light source, such as a projector lamp.
Then there is the dichroic coating of the reflector. This allows infra-red light (heat) to pass through while reflecting visible light, thereby reducing the amount of heat shooting through the LCD element (or at the DLP mirrors). Also, the shape of the reflector may be a fourth-power parabolic (rather than a second-power parabolic) as a fourth-power parabolic much more accurately and evenly distributes light rays emitted from a focal point. However, fourth-power parabolic reflectors are more difficult to accurately manufacture.
Finally a projector lamp is made of material resistant to high pressure and high temperature. The electrodes have to be very durable and so on. Although projector lamps look superficially like common light bulbs, the manufacturing processes are completely different.
Quality Control on Teklamps Projector Lamps
Reliability tests carried out on our lamps include Vibration Test (reference standard IEC68-2-6FC), Mechanical Shock Test (reference standard IEC68-2-27), Drop Test (reference standard IEC68-2-31) and Temperature Cycling Test (reference standard IEC68-2-14Na).
Other points. These lamps are NOT built in China. The parts are Taiwanese and the lamps are built in Taiwan. The procedures in place to maintain high quality standards meet ISO 9001:2000.
Further, the lamps are built to ISO 14000 environmental management standards. (These exist to help organisations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment, such as adverse changes to air, water, or land, and to comply with applicable laws and regulations.)
Packaging
Every single lamp is packaged separately in its own cardboard box. The lamp is well secured against delivery and handling damage. Gloves for handling the lamp are included in the box.
Projector Lamp Warranty
Like all the projector lamps that are sold in the UK, our projector lamps come with a full industry standard 90-day warranty.
However, the warranty that comes with Teklamps lamps is a no-quibble one.
You won't find many that offer a no-quibble warranty. In fact, as you have probably experienced, when things go wrong, many companies don't want to know. They have customer service departments that are difficult to reach. Or you have to fill in long forms which then have to be approved. And they sometimes can be slow processing them. Eventually they give you what is called an RMA number, so you can return your lamp and get a refund.
We try to give you a friendlier and easier approach.
Sometimes a lamp is returned because the customer chose the wrong lamp. This is quite understandable. There is such a wide range of projector models with similar part numbers that it is easy to order the wrong one. We are more than happy to provide the customer with the right one.
Because of the excellent quality of Teklamps lamps, a lamp rarely comes back because it is faulty. But it has happened.
Whatever the reason for the return, we ask you this simple question: do you want us to replace the projector lamp for you or do you want us to refund you. It is your choice.
Either way, we won't make it difficult for you. Just send the lamp back with a note on what happened and your invoice number and we'll take care of the rest.
If you want a replacement, we will send out a replacement. If you want a refund, we will refund your credit card (or send you a cheque if you paid by cheque, and so on).
